Student interview with Danielle from One Giant Leap Images

In October last year, we brought Danielle from One Giant Leap Images in to take a series of images of Kaya in both her home and Paddington Yoga Bones studio. To celebrate this collaboration, we wanted to share a bit more about Danielle and the exclusive photography special she has on offer for all Yoga Bones students.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a portrait photographer, born and bred in Brisbane (still defrosting from an 8 year stint in Scotland before returning home in 2010). I get lost in old family albums frequently and am a massive advocate for getting pictures off digital devices and back in print.

How would you describe your style?

I have a very photo-journalistic style which simply means, I document a story in images. I am a big fan of natural light and I love images that are set in an environment that means something to my clients, whether it be their family home or a location of particular significance.

I capture people doing all kinds of things. Like, getting married, throwing a family dinner or embarking on their first day of school. I’ve followed family road trips to the beach. I’ve been there to capture a puppy taking his first steps in his forever home.

It’s all about capturing the everyday so those moments that are so often taken for granted, no longer are.

What inspires you?

People. Always people. Telling their story, portraying their personality and the unique connections they have with those around them.

What do you love most about being a photographer?

I get to be part of so many experiences and important moments of peoples’ lives – I never take that for granted and never will. Just recently, I was there to photograph a surprise proposal – I mean, how amazing is that?! Every session is different. Every family, couple, individual – they all have a different story to tell and I always get to create something unique, meaningful, with each and every client.

Where can I see your work?

You can check out my website which is full of my most recent work, client stories on the blog, details of my services and pricing and just a whole raft of pretty pictures to enjoy.

What was your favourite part of working with Kaya in the Yoga Bones studio?

I loved visiting the studio in Paddington. I captured Kaya in the studio early morning and the sunlight was just streaming through the windows – it really was one of the most serene, magical and calm shoots I’ve had.

What’s this about an exclusive deal for Yoga Bones students?
